Andrew Jones, Vice-President HPC Business - NAG Group

As Vice-President High Performance Computing (HPC) Business for the NAG Group, Andrew has responsibility for NAG's HPC consulting business. This includes leading the growth of the HPC business, developing strategic relationships within the HPC community (including users, buyers, service providers, software developers and hardware suppliers), and advising the development of skills and products to reflect the market need.

Andrew joined NAG in 2008, with over 10 years of experience in computational IT and especially HPC, mostly applied to scientific research but also some defence applications. Before joining NAG, Andrew was Head of HPC at the University of Manchester, and was involved in both the CSAR national supercomputing service and the European PRACE project. Andrew has been an end-user, service provider, manager and buyer of HPC and is increasingly well known in the international supercomputing community. Andrew is the current chair of the Many-core and Reconfigurable Supercomputing Conference (MRSC) series, and has previously been a Director of the SGI User group.

Aside from his scientific/user background, Andrew's recent expertise spans development of computational IT requirements and strategy; planning and review of HPC services; evaluation and benchmarking of HPC technology; procurement of systems and services (including formal EU/OJEU procurements); service leadership; and project management.
