David Carlisle, Senior Technical ConsultantDavid has worked at NAG since 1998 and is currently Group Leader for the XML technologies group. He has played a key role in the conversion of the NAG documentation base to XML and introduction of XSLT and other XML technologies. David is an editor of the MathML 2 Recommendation (the standard extension of (X)HTML to encode mathematical expressions). He is currently co-chair of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Math Interest Group. Related to this work he is an editor of a draft update to the ISO entities for characters. He is also an editor of the OpenMath Standard and a member of the OpenMath Society. Outside his work at NAG, David was one of the designers of the LaTeX2e typesetting system and still a member of its core development team. David obtained a 1st Class Honours (in 1982) and a PhD (in 1985) in Mathematics from Manchester University. |
