Emmanuel Vergison

Emmanuel Vergison, retired from his post at Solvay S.A., Brussels in December 2003, as Corporate Knowledge Manager after working there for over 30 years. His collaboration with NAG dated from 1984.

He started his career with Solvay as a Numerical Analyst, working in Mathematical Modelling, and was in charge of the Scientific and Technical Computer Department at the Central Research Laboratory from 1984 - 1994.

In parallel to, and in connection with, his industrial work, he developed intensive collaborative work with European Universities and Research Centres in Vector Computing, Graphics, Symbolic Computing, Environmental Modelling and Human-Computer Interfaces. Emmanuel has also been active as an evaluator in European Union Research initiatives.

From 1994 until his retirement, his interests have extended to Knowledge Management issues including human organisation modelling, knowledge based systems, collaborative networks, project management, competitive intelligence and structured innovation.

He is still lecturing on Knowledge Management at the University of Valenciennes (F), the University of Savoie (F), the Catholic University of Louvain (B) and the Graduate School of Business of Chambéry (F).

As a member of the Scientific Council of the University of Technology of Compiègne (F), he is also very active in a long term study concerning the future of R&D and Innovation, within the emerging European Regionalized Framework.

A member of the NAG User's Association since 1984 and its Chairman since 1990, Emmanuel joined the NAG Board of Directors in 1990. Emmanuel retired from the board in October 2007, but remains a highly valued member of NAG and its team of technical advisors.

Emmanuel has always considered NAG not just a high quality producing software house. He very early adhered to its profound humanist and ethical grounding and never stopped supporting its paradigm to consider the company's activity more as a public service than as a purely commercial activity.
