Jeremy Walton, Senior Visualization ConsultantDr Jeremy Walton is a Senior Technical Consultant at NAG Ltd, with responsibility for the company's activities in visualization. The main activity of his group is the development, support and porting of IRIS Explorer (a visualization toolkit), but they also work extensively with graphics libraries such as Open Inventor, OpenGL and the NAG Graphics Library. Jeremy's activities include application development, user support and training, technical marketing and visualisation consulting. He is the leader of ADVISE, a DTI-funded research project in visualization and analysis (the other partners are VSN International and the University of Leeds), and has previously led NAG's contributions to the UK e-Science projects gViz and climateprediction.net. He has given numerous presentations and technical talks on NAG's work in visualization, besides contributing to several articles and papers in this field. Since the beginning of 2008, he has been working part-time at the Oxford e-Research Centre as a consultant, helping to determine new requirements and directions in the area of visualization for the university. Before joining NAG in 1993, Jeremy was the leader of the visualization activity at BP Research, which involved development and consultancy with all parts of the BP Group. Prior to that, he performed research in the molecular simulation of adsorption for BP and, from 1984 to 1985, he was a post-doctoral researcher at Cornell University, developing computer codes for the microscopic modelling of fluid interfaces. Jeremy holds a D.Phil in “Statistical Mechanics Of Liquids” from the University of Oxford, and a first class honours degree in Chemistry from Imperial College London. |
