The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) specialises in the provision of software for the solution of mathematical, statistical and data mining problems. This software is used by companies and institutions in a diverse range of industries all over the world to solve problems in many areas of commerce, science and engineering. The range of products and services that NAG offers has continually expanded and currently includes statistical, data mining and visualisation software and compilers and application development tools, all backed up by expert consultancy and technology licensing.

Job Description

NAG is seeking to recruit a software engineer to join its XML Technologies Group. This team is responsible for producing documentation for NAG products and, increasingly, for using XML tools (in particular XSLT) to generate software components which can be used to embed NAG products into new environments.

Applicants should hold a degree in a computer science or software engineering-related discipline. They should have strong programming skills and some familiarity with XML. Experience with XSLT would be a distinct advantage. We recognise that our use of XML is quite novel and so appropriate training will be provided to the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will be working within a small team, so the ability to work constructively and cooperatively with colleagues is essential. In addition he or she will be expected to show creativity, initiative and flexibility while maintaining a close attention to detail.
