The installer will be provided with a printed copy of this document which is also supplied on the distribution medium. The use of all supplied software must be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Software Licence signed by NAG and each site. Any request to use NAG software on a computer other than the one licenced must be referred to NAG (see Section 5). 2. Implementation Provided 2.1. Applicability This implementation is a compiled, tested, ready-to-use version of the DAPRE77 system that is considered suitable for operation on the computer systems detailed below: hardware: All Sun 4 (SPARC) workstations and servers operating system: SunOS 4.1 or later For information about implementations of the DAPRE77 system for use on other computer systems please contact NAG. 2.2. Derivation This implementation was produced at NAG Ltd., Oxford on the computing system detailed below: hardware: Sun 4/470 operating system: SunOS 4.1 C compiler: bundled f77 compiler: Sun utilities: bundled 3. Distribution Medium 3.1. Recording Details The implementation is distributed in tar format on a 1/4 inch magnetic tape cartridge, unless otherwise indicated on the medium and accompanying despatch note. For further details, refer to other documentation supplied or contact NAG (see Section 5). 3.2. Contents The following shows the directory/file organization of the materials on the distribution medium. A brief description of some of the files is given. +------ dapre_bin | | DAPRE77 --|------ dapre_lib ----- examples | | +------ doc DAPRE77/dapre_bin Contains the main executable shell script: dapre DAPRE77/doc Contains the on-line help man page and plain text copies of the Installers' Note (this document) and the Users' Note: dapre.1 IN UN DAPRE77/dapre_lib Contains the remaining files and a sub-directory containing the examples from the User Guide. 3.3. File Sizes The files require approximately the following disc space: driver program (bin directory): 9 kbytes support files (lib directory): 2116 kbytes support files (lib/examples directory): 13 kbytes documentation files (doc directory): 17 kbytes 4. Installation 4.1. Installation N.B. You may need to be root to install the materials. To install all material from the cartridge mounted on drive /dev/rst8 (say), use the UNIX tar utility: tar xvf /dev/rst8 DAPRE77/dapre_bin/* should be moved to a suitable location from where it can be accessed by users, e.g. mv DAPRE77/bin/* /usr/local/bin DAPRE77/doc/dapre.1 should be moved to /usr/man/man1, i.e. mv DAPRE77/doc/dapre.1 /usr/man/man1 DAPRE77/dapre_lib/* should be copied to a new directory /usr/local/lib/dapre, i.e. mkdir /usr/local/lib/dapre cp -R DAPRE77/dapre_lib /usr/local/lib/dapre If for system administration reasons this directory is not suitable, the files may be placed in another directory and the environment variable DAPRE77 defined to point to that location. If the timestamps on the library files are altered, for instance by copying the files instead of moving them into place, you will need to run ranlib, e.g. ranlib /usr/local/lib/dapre/diff.a ranlib /usr/local/lib/dapre/diffbm.a 4.2. Checking Accessibility The installer should then ensure that the material described in Section 2 of the Users' Note is accessible to an ordinary user.
