Corrigenda to ISO/IEC 1539 : 1991

(Information technology - Programming languages - Fortran)

During the development of such a complex document as a programming language standard it is inevitable that there will be some errors. Some of these are errors of description, where it is not completely and unambiguously clear to the reader what is intended. Others are errors of fact, which may not always be apparent until an attempt is made to implement the language by producing compilers for it. Still others may be typographical errors which have slipped through the proof-reading process.

One of the most important duties of WG5 is to deal with any queries concerning the Standard and, where necessary, to publish Technical Corrigenda to record any defects in the Standard, and the necessary corrections. Three such corrigenda to the Fortran 90 Standard were published before it was replaced by the Fortran 95 Standard. All of the corrections detailed in these corrigenda have been incorporated into Fortran 95, but the corrigenda themselves provide a record of the defects in Fortran 90, so that those who continue to use and/or support Fortran 90 compilers after the release of the Fortran 95 Standard will have an official record of these errors and their solutions.

The edits to the Fortran 90 Standard contained in these corrigenda are available here, while the published corrigenda can be obtained via National Standards Organisations. The texts of the corrigenda are also available in both Acrobat and PostScript form from the WG5 file server:
