Tech Tip: User Tips for NAGWare

NAGWare f95 Compiler

The NAGWare f95 Compiler features extensive compile time checking for standards conformance and code correctness. This level of checking is appropriate when new development is taking place in order to ensure robust, correct and portable code. Sometimes, though, one has to compile very old code that is known to work despite the fact that there are compilation errors reported. The NAGWare f95 Compiler allows you to downgrade some of the error checking for such code using the -dusty, -mismatch or -mismatch_all options, thus allowing the legacy code to compile without any changes.

NAGWare Fortran Tools (withdrawn product)

There are two interfaces to the NAGWare Fortran Tools. The graphical user interface may be especially useful to the new user. It allows users to experiment with tool options and display the original code and modified code side by side. If the changes are not quite what is required, the original file can be restored by a click of a button and another set of options explored. If a series of tools is being executed, remember to click the "Retain existing backup" button to avoid overwriting the backup of the original file.

A traditional command line interface is also provided for batch work or for the more experienced user to reapply the same tools processing many times.
