| Question 1 | The colour map used by DisplayImg or the Credits is corrupted so the image colours are incorrect. |
| Answer 1 | This problem occurs on certain 8-bit graphics cards. It can be resolved
by setting the following environment variable before starting explorer:

| Question 2 | The Render module crashes whenever it is loaded into a map. |
| Answer 2 | There are two possibilities here.
1. Solaris OpenGL patch number 105049-02 will cause the Render module to crash. To check to see if this patch has been installed on your machine type the following: You will need to remove this patch if the Render module is to function correctly. The patch can be removed by logging in as root as typing the following commands from a shell: ./backoutpatch 105049-02 On newer releases of IRIS Explorer (Release 4.0 and later) a number of modules that use OpenGL for rendering are also available in versions that render via X using the Mesa graphics library . These Mesa-based modules will render on any X display. Setting the CXGLTYPE environment variable determines which version of these modules IRIS Explorer will use, e.g. (from the C shell): |

| Question 3 | Some printed images and snapshots from the Render module are rendered incorrectly. |
| Answer 3 | This is caused when certain graphics cards are used with Open GL 1.1. This problem is corrected in Open GL 1.1.1. Please contact your nearest IRIS Explorer Center for further information. |

| Question 4 | The pull-down menus in the Render module appear in black. |
| Answer 4 | Certain graphics cards cause the Render's pull-down menus appear black.
