Licensing For The NAG Fortran Compiler on Windows ------------------------------------------------- 1. Introduction --------------- The use of the NAG Fortran Compiler on Windows is controlled by the Kusari Licence Management system. This document contains the instructions on how to install the licence needed to run the software. 2. How to get a licence ----------------------- 2.1 Evaluation ("trial") licences --------------------------------- For evaluation purposes a trial licence may be used. To get a trial licence contact the NAG support team. 2.2 Requesting a full licence ----------------------------- To request a license key, run the Kusari Installer program; this is normally run automatically at the end of the installation procedure, or can be started later from the the Start Menu by selecting [ All Programs | NAG | NAG Fortran Builder 6.0 | NAG NPW3260NA Licence, Request or Install ] Click on the Request New Licence button to bring up the New Licence Request form. Fill in your details and click on Generate Licence Request, then Copy to Clipboard; paste the generated information into your email client and send it to the NAG address given at the top of the generated information. The NAG support team will send you the Kusari license key by email. 3. How to use the licence ------------------------- 3.1 Using the Kusari Licence Installer -------------------------------------- This is the recommended method of installation. From the Start Menu, select [ All Programs | NAG | NAG Fortran Builder 6.0 | NAG NPW3260NA Licence, Request or Install ]. Copy the licence key directly from the email, paste it into the Kusari Licence Installer window by clicking "Paste from Clipboard"; then click "Install Licence Key". This will install the licence key in the Windows Registry. 3.2 Manually installing the licence key in the Windows Registry --------------------------------------------------------------- Use the 'klreg' program to install the licence key; this program can be found in the compiler library directory (nagfor\lib). If the licence key has been saved to the file x.txt, it can be installed in the registry by klreg -load x.txt For full information on how to use 'klreg' please read k-using-w32.pdf in the compiler documentation (doc) directory. 3.2 Installing the licence key in a file ---------------------------------------- If it is not desirable to install the licence key in the registry, you can put the licence key into a file accessible from the machine for which the software is licensed; if possible, in the file "nag.key" in the directory specified in the HOMEPATH environment variable, in which case you do not need to set any further environment variable. 3.3 Setting the environment variable ------------------------------------ If the key is installed in a file other than "nag.key", "nag.licence" or "nagware.licence" in the directory specified in the HOME or HOMEPATH environment variable or the current working directory, you need to set the environment variable NAG_KUSARI_FILE to the full pathname of the licence file. Use the Control Panel / System / Advanced / Set Environment Variables dialogue to do this. The exact details of this process depend on the version of Windows installed. This is not necessary if the licence key is installed in the Windows Registry.
